This FAQ page addresses some of the most common questions we receive about IV nutrient therapy and our services at Alter Infusions.

IV nutrient therapy is a supportive service focused on hydration and nutrient delivery, and is not a medical treatment. All services are delivered by registered nurses following appropriate health screening and medical approval.

We prioritise quality and transparency, using high-quality ingredients sourced through licensed Australian suppliers and compounding pharmacies, operating within Australia’s therapeutic goods regulatory framework.

What is IV nutrient therapy?

IV vitamin therapy involves delivering vitamins, minerals, and fluids directly into the bloodstream via a small intravenous cannula. This bypasses the digestive system and allows nutrients to be delivered directly into circulation.

Is IV nutrient therapy safe?

IV vitamin therapy is generally well tolerated when provided appropriately.
All clients complete a health questionnaire prior to treatment. Infusions are administered by registered nurses using sterile, single-use equipment and TGA-approved ingredients. Minor side effects such as bruising or tenderness at the cannula site can occur.

how often can i have iv nutrient therapy?

Frequency depends on individual goals, lifestyle, and overall health. Some clients choose one-off sessions, while others include IV nutrient therapy as part of a regular wellness routine. Your nurse can discuss general options with you.

What happens during a session?

Sessions typically take 60-90 minutes. After consent and cannula insertion, you can relax while the infusion is administered. Most clients read, work, or rest during treatment. Mobile sessions are available.

Do you offer iron infusions?

No. We do not provide iron infusions.

Iron infusions are a medical treatment that require blood tests and medical oversight and are usually administered in hospital or specialist settings. If you are concerned about iron levels, please speak with your GP.

Who is not suitable for iv nutrient therapy?

IV nutrient therapy may not be suitable for everyone.

You may not be eligible if you:

- Are pregnant or breastfeeding

- Have certain medical conditions (such as kidney disease, heart conditions, or fluid balance issues)

- Are currently unwell or have an active infection

- Have known allergies to any infusion ingredients

- Are receiving treatment that may interact with IV nutrients

All clients are required to complete a health questionnaire prior to treatment. Suitability is assessed before booking, and IV nutrient therapy may be declined if it is not considered appropriate. If you are unsure whether IV nutrient therapy is right for you, we recommend discussing this with your GP.

Do you charge travel fees for mobile appointments?

Alter Infusions provides mobile IV nutrient therapy across Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and the Hunter region.

Travel within our core service area is included in your appointment.

For bookings outside this area, an additional travel fee may apply to account for extended nurse travel time. Any applicable travel fee will be clearly communicated at the time of booking.

For corporate wellness, gym partnerships, or group bookings, travel is incorporated into your customised quote.
